Carina Leitch

In 2018 I realised a long held wish to travel to the Western Front in France. To follow in the footsteps of my Grandfather’s World War I story and to attend commemorations to remember the end of World War I. I wanted to give a gift to the Victoria school in Villers Bretonneux France. To say thank you for their community’s enduring support towards Australia. And what better gift than a Great War bear from the Military Shop! Hughie as I named him, after my Grandfather, traveled in bubble wrap in my carry on luggage all the way to France. Then he traveled through the battlefields of France and Belgium before making his home with the students of The Victoria School Villers Bretonneux.

Lest we Forget
