Lee Colless

My digger bear arrived in the post. I bought him in remembrance of my great grandfather PTE 455 Henry Hincks and his brother PTE 797 Alexander Hincks both of the 3rd division, 9th brigade, 34th and 35th battalions. B company. Alexander was K.I.A in Messines. The 34th and 35th were fighting together that day, and the boys were together in a trench. Alexander looked out of the trench and as he was talking to Henry, his head was shot Killing him. Henry came home but died four years later. I have a collection of Henry’s things. I have his ID tag, metal collapsible cup, victory medal, rising Sun hat pin, lots of silk Post cards etc. These guys are my very own heroes, and I’m so proud of them!
